The Chief of Police directs the activities of the Police Department, including managing resources, establishing department goals, and delivering effective public safety services.
Chief Jeff Watts began working for the Stillwater Police Department in September of 1991. He served as a patrol officer for many years before promotion to patrol sergeant. Watts served as a training sergeant and a Criminal Investigations Division (CID) sergeant prior to promotion of CID Commander. He obtained both his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and master’s degree in leadership from Mid-America Christian University and is a graduate of the 2015 FBI National Police Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Chief Watts was selected as the Stillwater Police Department Chief of Police on January 25, 2019.
