(Stillwater, OK) – Stillwater Electric Utility has begun installation of the LED street light fixtures on 6th Street, moving east to west, and then will go to Perkins Road, from north to south. After the main corridors are complete, they will address other heavily traveled roadways, then individual neighborhoods.

“We continue making great strides to become more energy efficient,” Loren Smith, Electric Utility Director said. “LED lighting consumes less energy to operate, requires minimal maintenance, and the lights have a longer lifespan. Additionally, they provide a higher quality of lighting which improves traffic safety and road conditions.”
The LED street light installation project, which includes approximately 4400 fixtures, is expected to take two years to complete. The City requests that drivers use caution when traveling near crews who may have to be partially in the roadways during the installation process.
