Police Department News Posted on July 17, 2024

(STILLWATER, OK) – The Stillwater Police Department (SPD) announces the retirement of K9 Egon, who faithfully served the community since November 2017. His official retirement date was July 12, 2024.

K9 Egon was certified in apprehension and narcotic detection in the Special Projects Division. His work contributed to numerous successful operations to safeguard Stillwater residents and those in nearby communities. He also participated in multiple outreach projects, such as school educational demonstrations. K9 Egon left a lasting impact on both his colleagues and the Stillwater community.

SPD will miss K9 Egon and extend the deepest gratitude to him and his handler, Detective Newly McSpadden, for their collaborative efforts and exemplary service.

Detective McSpadden will now have K9 Jaro at his side. K9 Jaro is fully prepared to step into the role and continue the legacy of excellence his predecessor established. SPD welcomes K9 Jaro and looks forward to continued efforts to safeguard residents and visitors.

If K9 Egon could share his sentiments, SPD believes they would be – he will miss his job and fellow K9s. He is proud of his around-the-clock work to help ensure safety for the community he loves. He is looking forward to retirement and living with the McSpadden family, to enjoy a well-deserved rest and pampering.
