(STILLWATER, OK) – On Sunday, August 13, 2023, at 3:16 a.m., Stillwater Police Department (SPD) responded to MPower at 316 S. Stallard to assist the Stillwater Fire Department (SFD). SFD was on scene prior for a fire alarm and noticed the front door was propped open and the front office appeared to be rummaged through.
SPD officers cleared the building and observed multiple acts of vandalism. The suspects attempted to start a fire in the microwave with a bible. It is estimated that there is approximately $75,000 - $100,000 in damages to the building and contents. The suspects attempted to steal vehicles, but were unsuccessful.
SPD detectives responded to the scene to collect photographs, evidence and surveillance footage. The footage showed two male juveniles. Both suspects were identified with the help of Stillwater Public School staff.
On Tuesday, August 15, at 1:43 p.m., detectives located and arrested one of the juveniles. The second juvenile was located and arrested at 5:05 p.m.
Both juveniles were ordered to a Juvenile Detention Center and are being held on the following charges.
- Arson Second Degree
- Burglary Second Degree
- Malicious Injury or Destruction of Property – More than $1,000.
One of the juveniles did admit to burglarizing two other Stillwater Public School buildings in Couch Park, with one of them being the Softball locker room / offices.
Due to their ages, the juveniles’ names will not be released. One juvenile is 13 and the other is 15 years of age.
